About

Hi – I’m Robin.  I looked up and realized that six years has gone by since I had kids, nine years had gone by since I’d gotten dogs, and eleven years had gone by since I’d gotten married.  And all I have to show for it is fading memories and some (well maybe LOTS) of photos.  But where are the stories to go with them?  This is my attempt to write this stuff down as it happens so when I’m old I’ll remember at least some of it.

So me…well – what is there to say?  I always like to read about what people like to help me figure them out…so these are a few of my favorite things (is that from Mary Poppins?)

  • kids (in general, but mine especially)
  • dogs (why else would I have three of them?)
  • homemade chocolate chip cookies
  • coffee
  • the Oregon coast
  • the internet (how I love thee!)
  • Kermit the Frog
  • reading
  • Greek salads
  • early mornings

People always love to tell me stuff that’s wildly TMI.  I frequently joke that there’s a sign on my forehead that tells them to do so.  I don’t really mind.  It makes for a very amusing life.

I get gut feelings.  I usually trust them.  Alan believes in them to a bizarre degree.  He often says “what is your gut telling you??”

My family includes seven members (not including me)…meet each of them below.

Alan is my beloved hubby of eleven years.  We met at 11 years old in middle school in Kennewick, WA (ah – Park Middle School how I miss your smelly halls).  At first blush, we couldn’t stand each other.  A few years later we re-met (i.e. our cliqués coincided), became great friends, and eventually began dating (at the tail end of high school).  I’m one of those people who married my high school sweetheart.  We went to college together – married in 1998 and the rest is history.  Alan is funny as hell.  He’s smart and analytical and one of those people who’s great to be around.  He’s my very best friend and the one person I always want to share everything with.  Plus he has a great ass.

Moira is 6 years old.  She was born September 4, 2003 in Kirkland, WA (we lived in Bothell at the time).  She is brilliant and funny and possesses fabulous style (I’ll include photographic evidence of this).  She’s also gorgeous (though I realize I’m prejudiced).  She’s what I’d call an old soul since she seems to have come straight from the womb wise beyond her years.  Maia (you’ll meet her in a minute) is her puppy and very much the highlight of her life right now.

Kenna is 3 years old.  She was born September 15, 2006 in Scottsdale, AZ.  She is dramatic and flamboyant, but shy in certain situations.  She adores her older sister, but doesn’t seem sorry when Moira marches off to school because she’s great at playing by herself also.  Kenna makes us laugh daily.  She’s also smart as a whip.

Sloane is just a baby. She was born June 3, 2010 in Scottsdale, AZ. She is adorable and chubby and smiles a lot. We’re just getting to know each other. And we’re really glad she’s here!

We also share our house with three dogs – Gromit, Devon, and Maia.

Gromit is the old man about town.  He was born April 23, 2000.  He is an English Springer Spaniel of the liver and white persuasion.  We got him from the uncle of a family friend.  He was a CRAZY puppy – leaving much destruction in his wake.  However, this was due in large part to being left alone for many hours a day (bad Robin!)  Doggie daycare became a godsend at that time.  Now he’s slowed down a lot, but still loves PLAYING BALL!  He gives kisses to the point of obsession and is velcroed to me at most times.

Devon is our lady of mellowness.  She is some mixture of Border Collie and Dalmatian and came from a rescue group in Bothell, WA called PAWS.  She was probably born in November of 2001 (we’re not sure exactly).  Devon is elegant.  She moves like a queen (with a few major blunders like tripping over her own gigantic paws every so often).  She and Gromit get along wonderfully.  She also tolerates the puppy face VERY well.  Devon doles out kisses on occasion and LOVES to soak up the sunshine wherever she can get it.

Maia is our newest addition.  She was born May 14, 2009.  She is some conglomeration of Border Collie and Chocolate Lab…probably.  We’re not really sure at this point.  She’s adorable and a SUPER HYPER PUPPY.  She loves to play…with everything.  I’m really curious to see how she’s going to turn out once she settles into who she really is.

P.S.  Are you wondering what DoobieRoo is?  Doobie and Roo were my childhood nicknames.  Bestowed on me by my very dearest aunts.  Roo is not so bad.  But Doobie?  The aunt in question had NO idea that a doobie is also a joint.  So I’ve spent many years with people asking “doobie??” with a quizzical look.  No, I do not smoke dope.  It’s sort of too bad though cause I’ve got a killer nickname already.
